ACT 2017 Test Dates, Syllabus, Exam Pattern & Eligibility

ACT stands for ‘American College Testing’. It is standardized test for high school achievement and college admissions in United States of America, it is a paper based standard test conducted by non-profit organisation ACT started in the year 1959. ACT 2017 Test Dates, Syllabus, Exam Pattern & Eligibility:

The main purpose of the examination for undergraduate admissions mostly in the US and Canadian universities. The examination contains four different sections and each section has its individual time duration, the total duration of the examination is 3 hours and 35 minutes. The four different sections and their individual time duration are as followed

Time Duration

• English: 45 minutes
• Mathematics: 60 minutes
• Reading: 35 minutes
• Science: 35 minutes

An additional/optional writing test is there and its duration is of 40 minutes, breaks are provided in between each section but all of them are conducted on the same day.

Score ranges from 1 to 36 and admissions to the colleges are based on their scores, the top scorer having the higher priority. This exam is offered individually by US and Canada, it is offered 6 times a year by Canada and only 5 times by US.

Instructions for Registration:

All the candidates must register only through web. They must establish a free ACT web account in order to register, after providing the required information for account creation, they must click on ‘Register to test’ link and follow the instructions on web screens to complete their registration. Payment must be done by a valid credit card.

If any candidate has disability can request for accommodations, they must complete and return the Request for Special Testing.
